who has been publishing some biology multi-agent (or- individually based,

1st Open International Conference on Modeling & Simulation
This conference looks
interesting. I’m going to write a paper for it.

And, again…
Another fish guy-
N. LeRoy Poff.
Both he and the last guy seem to only have dabbled in multi-agent
simulations in one article:

More researchers coming out of the woodwork
Every time I think I’ve found all of the multi-agent biology researchers
out there, I stumble onto new pockets of information and whole new slews
of researchers.
Kenneth Rose, for instance. He’s a fish guy.

Blank Weekly Schedule
I keep needing a blank weekly schedule for work.
Here’s one that I like because it lets me write in the hour divisions
that I want.

Craig Reynold’s List of Individual Based Biology Models
I’m not sure how I missed Craig Reynold’s
list. I’m glad I’ve found
it now!

Social anxiety is not introversion
It occured to me, as I was reading about introversion, that it could
easily be confused for social anxiety. However, as
this article
points out, introverts, while having likes or dislikes about aspects of
socializing, do not necessarily feel anxious about socializing.
Introversion/Extroversion is a personality trait, whereas Social Anxiety
is a mental disorder. Thus, somewhat surprisingly to me, you can have
someone who is both highly extroverted and suffers from social anxiety.
Now that would be a challenge indeed.

An introvert and an extrovert in the class room
I found
this description of the university class room experience for an
introvert and an extrovert to be very interesting. I particularly liked
reading about the challenges of being an extrovert, because it gave me a
new perspective.

Introverts are Cool
Okay- I’ve been a bit slow going on the blog this new year. I’m not sure
why- I even have e-mails that I’ve sent myself with links to put in my
blog. The links are slowly moving farther back in my inbox and will
disappear unless I put them in my blog very soon. And yet, I didn’t
feel that familiar blog spark until now, when I thought about introverts,
and extroverts. And I thought about how there is this implicit subtext to
any discussion about
introverts and
extroverts that makes introverts sound lame and extroverts sound cool.
And I thought- “Hey introverts are cool too, darn it!”. Fortunately, the
internet has
confirmed this for me.
Consider this
very cool story, told by an introvert. And consider
this
ten year old, who thinks introverts are cool, too. Okay- maybe I need
a bit
more evidence, but I think it’s true. Introverts are cool.
