Ethology
is the study of animal behaviour qua animal behaviour (as opposed to
comparative psychology, which compares the behaviour of humans to the
behaviour of other animals. You may have noticed that psychologists and
other scientists have a hard time lumping humans in with the other
animals. I guess Darwin’s legacy hasn’t spread as far as we might think.)
